Microsoft Office softwares like Word, PowerPoint, and Excel are some of the most prevalent softwares for creating and editing documents.This session is designed to guide participants in learning how to use style and design tools within PowerPoint to format their documents in accordance with basic accessibility standards. Learn how to confidently evaluate and remediate your PowerPoint documents to meet Title II standards!

Learning Objectives:

• Use Powerpoint's Accessibility Checker correctly.
• Use Powerpoint's design and styling tools to properly format headings, links, tables, images, and media.
• Identify the 'do's and 'don't's of Powerpoint-specific special effects like transitions.
• Properly export Powerpoint files for use in other formats such as PDFs.
• Translate accessibility pathways in Powerpoint to GSuite correctly.
• Gain at least two resources to guide those in need of accessibility features in Powerpoint.

Presenter:

Jack Garrard is the Web Accessibility Specialist for University of Maryland College Park, with 9 years of experience with digital accessibility in higher education and 4 years at the federal level. He specializes in music braille, PDF remediation, and web testing, with a passion for training others on how to create accessible materials.
